Unique Coffee Shop Getting 'Stacked' in Downtown El Paso

Two shipping containers will be stacked one on top of the other on Wednesday in Downtown El Paso to help create a new coffee shop. The Coffee Box will offer a new eatery option in Downtown when it opens later this year.

The adaptive reuse project will stack the containers in an off-center fashion, with a portion of the upper container hanging over the side of the lower one, creating a covered patio effect with seating. On the other side, a balcony will be created, according to the rendering of the finished project.

A "Stacking of the Box" ceremony will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at the corner of Mesa Street and Main Street across from San Jacinto Plaza. The shop is scheduled to open in the fall.
