A two-mile stretch of the Playa Drain in the Lower Valley of El Paso could soon become a linear park that can be used for recreation by residents. El Paso Water Utilities is purchasing the drain from El Paso County Water Improvement District No. 1 and will work with the Paso del Norte Health Foundation on creating the recreation areas.
The linear park will stretch from the Ascarate area to Riverside High School. Officials hope to create a park similar to the two-mile long Pueblo Viejo Park further east, near Zaragoza Road.
